Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS

One of my first freelance clients was Thurgood Marshall Academy (TMA) back in 2005. They had just opened their doors as a law-themed charter high school in DC and needed professional design to build and promote their messaging to donors. As a charter, they only receive a certain amount of money from the city – the rest comes from donations. Each year, I design materials for their annual fund drive and the big spring gala, as well as support various departments throughout (most recently, I have begun to work on designing for the school play, which has been super fun and creative.) This 20-year relationship has been one of the most meaningful as I have been (a small) part of this incredible school.

Wanna go to a Gala?

with invites like these, who wouldn’t want to go?

Since 2005, TMA has held their big annual fundraising Gala (now “Showcase”) and every year I have been there to design everything from the save the dates, invitation package, and sponsor materials to the program book, event signage and posters, and any other supporting materials like their photo booth, table top materials, and even fans (it’s humid in May in DC!) It’s a lot, but it is my favorite and most creative event of the year.
